The
spectacle “A Casa de Bernarda Alba” joins music, video and scenic material
to tell a history that goes by in the beginning of the twentieth century
in a small village in Spain. Bernarda Alba the despotic ruler, that has
just been widow, decrees to her family a eight years- mourning, imprisoning
her five young daughters inside the house and keeping them in a rigid
watchfulnes. Under the pretext of maintenance of moral, Bernarda Alba
goes interfering in the destiny of the daughters, picking up a quarrel
between them, causing a tragic end that will reflects in the whole family.
The
character Bernarda Alba and her tyrant position was the presage of a set
of despots, which characterized the despotic social systems of the whole
world since then, starting with General Franco in Spain, who sentenced
and shot Federico García Lorca in a cruel and arbitrary form. This same
position was responsible for the others abuses happened in the Spanish
civil war in the 30´s, under the force regime that General Franco restored
and supported in Spain for a period of 40 years. We can translate
it as a reflect of the luso-hispanic tyranny that widespread in the middle
of the twentieth century in the most of the Latin America Countries, by
the dictatorship there inserted proving the sinistrous previews of Federico
García Lorca, a visionary and victim of his own premonitions.
